Our Recipes

Let us start with an official disclaimer:

Our recipes and list of ingredients
are right from grandma's pantry!

Items like vinegar, baking soda, borax, lemon juice and liquid soap are the most basic of all cleaning ingredients. They are inexpensive, safer to use around children and pets, and do not harm our water resources. The cleaning power of these ingredients was common knowledge for our grandparents' generation. They mixed their own solutions and kept their homes very tidy – not because this was “earth friendly”, but because the solutions worked! Then, along came World War II and a burst in science and innovation. Many manufacturers decided to capitalize on some of these discoveries and began to reeducate the "modern" woman about the ways she should be cleaning the house. Our grandmothers were effectively brainwashed into believing that proprietary blends of toxic chemicals were the only solutions to get rid of their dirt. In many cases, and rather ironically, the actual health of their homes and of our earth was harmed in the process.

So, now that we've confessed that our recipes are no great secret, why on earth would you want to buy our spray bottles? Here are just a few reasons we hear from people all the time:

  • We live in a day and age where convenience is appreciated. These spray bottles eliminate the guess work and make it easy for people to kick start green habits into their lifestyle. We considered many recipes and selected the ones that were the safest and most effective.

  • The bottles are affordable and so are the ingredients the recipes require. You'll save a lot of money!

  • Unlike most spray bottles on the market, ours are MADE IN THE USA, using HDPE #2 plastic with up to 25% recycled milk containers!

  • They help you keep track of what use each spray bottle is intended for.

  • They are the perfect “green” gift. You can encourage your friends and family to adopt a greener, healthier lifestyle. They are an exceptional gift for new parents.

  • The bottles are long lasting and attractive. As our 3 year old says, “they're pretty!”. Keeping them around on the counter or under the sink will help you establish the habit of healthy cleaning.

A quick primer on safer alternatives
you should stock your pantry with:

Baking Soda: Can be used as a mild abrasive cleaner. It is an alternative to chlorine or silica-based scouring products, which can have harmful effects on humans and animals.

Vinegar: Used a general purpose cleaner, hard surface cleaner and glass cleaner. It is an alternative to ammonia-based cleaners and other corrosive products.

Borax: Can also be used as a general purpose cleaner. It is considered an effective alternative to chlorine or silica-based scouring products, which can have harmful effects on humans and animals. Although a generally safe alternative when diluted in water, it should still be used with caution and kept out of the reach of children and pets.

Lemon Juice: Lemons are naturally acidic and provide some antibacterial, antiseptic and bleaching properties for cleaning. Adding lemon juice to vinegar cleaning solutions not only helps improve the cleaning properties, but also helps neutralize the unpleasant smell of vinegar. Don't leave lemon juice sitting on a flat surface for too long, it is quite powerful and can damage surfaces.

Tea Tree Oil: Tea Tree oil is an essential oil obtain by steam distillation of the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia, a plant native to Australia. Tea tree oil contains consituents called terpenoids, which have been found to have antiseptic and antifungal activity. As with all essential oils, Tea Tree oil is highly concentrated and should be kept out of the reach of children and pets.

Hydrogen Peroxide: As a 3% concentration, it is used as a general purpose cleaner and bleach. Considered to be an effective alternative to chlorine-based compounds. Must be kept in dark containers as sunlight will breakdown the compounds.
